Technology

Seven layers between a signal and a decision.

Each layer has a job. None of them is the product on its own — the product is what they produce together.

Performance framework

From signal to action.

  1. 01

    Data

Operational information collected from the systems, equipment and records that already exist in the operation.

  2. 02

    Analytics

Structure and context. Raw signals become quantities that can be compared across time, lines and sites.

  3. 03

    Machine Learning

Models learn the patterns that precede known conditions, and flag when the operation departs from them.

  4. 04

    Artificial Intelligence

Relationships across separate parts of the operation are interpreted together rather than one dashboard at a time.

  5. 05

    Generative AI

Operational knowledge becomes searchable in natural language, so context is available to whoever needs it.

  6. 06

    Intelligence

The output that matters: an accurate, current reading of how the operation is behaving and why.

  7. 07

    Action

A decision taken, an intervention scheduled, a parameter changed — the point where intelligence becomes performance.

Principles

How we decide what to build.

The simplest model that holds
A model is chosen for the reliability of its answer in the operation, not for its sophistication on paper.
Explainable where it matters
When a system supports an operational decision, the person taking that decision has to be able to see why it was suggested.
Designed to be integrated
A platform that cannot exchange data with what the operation already runs will not survive contact with it.
